Reloading NodeSync with HDA

After creating a node with Experimental->Object->Geometry I'm modifying the output in Houdini with an external HDA I'm installing. I can save the node in Unity (to a .hess file) and reload it, but when I do the HDA is replaced with a Merge node. I've tried putting the HDA in my Unity project and installing it from that location before saving the sync, but it still replaces it with an merge node when I load it in Unity (and start a Houdini session).

Is there a way to save the path to the HDA in the SyncNode so it knows to load/install the HDA when the node is reloaded in Unity?
