Hi all
I am currently thinking about making edge displacement tool for karma that will take a fractured geo and a rest bound and create displacement in a material. This gives controllability of displacement after simulation or is this just an extra step when I can simulation proxy geo?

Whether it's an unnecessary extra step depends on the amount of detail you need
If you are happy with the detail in the hi res geo and the amount of disk space it occupies then there is no need for extra displacement which usually comes with its own uv and continuity issues
If however you want to do it for Karma you can also consider making the procedural instead of displacement shader
If you go with displacement shader route you may be able to do it just for CPU vex based shader since MaterialX seems to have hard coded tangent space displacement only for now
