Fix copy stamp N and up rotations 4 years, 9 months
Hi all. When using copy stamp, if you provide a N and up attributes the operator calculates the rotations using that coordiante system as a reference. I am having some troubles with some geometry that at some point just jumps, it orientation flickers. I have tought that probably the problem is that the copy operator is doing an euler rotation rather than using quaternions. Not sure if somebody else have had the same problem before, but any advice about waht is the best/easy way to get the same rotations but usign quaternions would be gret. Group and cap connected lines 4 years, 9 months
Hi there, I'm sure this is simple to achieve but I can't wrap my head around it! See attached picture... I have 6 lines merged together and I'd like to create polygons in the parts that are "closed". PolyCap doesn't work here as if the method used to create this geometry is incompatible. There are 12 points, 6 primitives, 12 vertices and 6 polygons. So my goal is to use PolyLoft but I still need to group the edges that form the closed shape. Any pointer would be appreciated! Thanks! P/S: sending a very simple scene in attachment. DOPs Physical RBD Units 4 years, 9 months
The "units" of the RBD Object Physical Mass and Density are vague. Given the Houdini Preferences > Hip File Options set to: Unit Length = 1 meter Unit Mass = 1 kg Then, what are the units mass and density are being set to? Thanks.

Hey, Pablo There used to be a switch on the solver to prevent this kind of behavior, but it's not there anymore. Only way I can think of fixing it (and it might not work in every case) is checking for number of neighbors for a point (if it's less then 3) and for proximity of points with the same initialpid, in a SOP solver, then fusing the points that meet all 3 criteria. I haven't tested it out yet though. :) Cheers Rafael

Script Solver reading inactive objects 4 years, 10 months
Hi everyone, I wanted to optimize a simulation that reads some information outside of dop. I thought about using a script solver with python to avoid using expressions that are called three times for example on a Motion Dop when it's a vector. I realized it gives a lot of potential for a clean way to set any data on dop objects but then I saw the script solver doesn't run when objects are not active. I'm going to do an RFE to let the script solver run anytime and let the user read the active state and decide what he wants. My question is, will it be really faster to use Python this way instead of different Motion Dop or Modify Data Dop, and is there a reason why we don't want to run the solver on inactive objects? Tearing cloth in H12.5 4 years, 10 months
Hi, I'm trying to tear a simple grid geometry using a sphere, like the example in http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini12.5/howto/tear But I'm having some problems. The first problem was that the attribute "enabletearing" is not working anymore but I found in the forums that it has been replaced by the attribute "fracturethreshold". The other problem is that this attribute affects edges adjacent to the main tearing edge: http://s23.postimg.org/w6mp4gzqj/tear.jpg Is there any way to tear a piece of cloth with a clean cut? Python: Menu scripts errors on load 4 years, 10 months
Hi! I have some menu parameters that generate errors when I open a hipfile, idem when running non-graphical. The script refers to the node and parameters on the same node, once the hip is successfully loaded this works fine. It seems to me that the menu script is triggered before the node is created or something like that. Its a bit odd, but it can't find nodes and parameters that it can once fully loaded.
