Jordi, The "justification" part seems to be the problem over here. It's a chicken-and-egg thing because how can we justify it if we don't use it on a project but how can we use it on a project if we can't justify it?It is not so difficult, if i need it i think they will eventually say yes. May be will take a bit, may be will take me the extra effort of learning so i can say "yes, i can do it but i need houdini"... :-P Sometimes is just a little tool that opens the door, then everything becomes more easy... CFD engine maybe ?
And while SESI is at it, how about Maya Ascii support? That way, we could all have the goodness from Houdini<->Maya<->XSI<->Houdini. Even better: how about an independent common open-source file format that acts like a hub between the Trio? ( <- this whishfull thinking was directed to no-one in particular in the hope that someone with a lot of spare unpaid time starts digging in <sigh>)Although utopic (i know) Softimage is just trying to do that with their format dotXSI, and people like Softimage, SoftimageCrowd, SoftimageXSI, Kaydara, RightHemisphere, 2d3, 3DSMax and a lot of the game industry is already supporting it. Obviously it will take time, but at least someone put an open format with many many things as well as good documentation and many examples and an API all together and for free. I am using it and it works. jordibares
