[Sidefx-houdini-list] Output Settings to Text file?
Sunday, 30 April 2006 Sun, 30 Apr '06
There's a a couple of ways that come to mind. I'm guessing you want to associate settings for a particular render. 1./ A semi-automated way might be to dump a small hscript into your ROP pre-render field. Something like this will dump your shader settings to a file with a blank line afterwards: opscript /my_path/my_shader >> /dir/shader_log.txt ; echo ' ' >> /dir/shader_log.txt Note: The file will need to exist before this will work. Also, if you are on a *nix system you can insert another line to record the date and time: echo `system(date)` >> /dir/shader_log.txt ; opscript /my_path/my_shader >> /dir/shader_log.txt ; echo ' ' >> /dir/shader_log.txt You could also create an alias to this command string in the textport. ie. alias log 'opscript /my_path/my_shader >> /dir/shader_log.txt ; echo " " >> /dir/shader_log.txt' Then every time you type "log" on the textport it will dump settings to that file. 2./ Another more manual option is to save a unique preset file using the presets menu on the shader parameter page. They're mostly ascii so you can read them - and they are easier to reload too if you want to restore the settings later. Good luck! On 29/04/06, Anthony C <anthonysidefx at gmail.com> wrote:
Does anyone know of a script or node to output certain settings to a text file? I am working on a I3d project and would like to keep track of what my settings in all my shaders are. Thanks a bunch.
