Layer SOP wha??

That sounds right to me, I was using it the other day and it worked fine. I was using .rat files as maps, if you turn on multi-textures in the viewport you should see all the layers displayed in smooth shading mode even without rendering which is handy. Does this give you the same smearing? The only thing that might be weird is that the whole layering process starts at layer 2, layer 1 is the "normal" background layer so your sequence of sops should go. Model > UV texture > Layer 2 > UV texture > Layer 3 > UV texture ... etc.... Also I had some troubles when I wanted to rearrange the order that things got comped together in the layer shader - but as long as the setup in the shader matches your sops you should be ok I would have thought. We've got an old job that keeps coming back, first we ported it from Prisms to Houdini, and now we're trying to bring it into Houdini 5 and switch over all the materials+TOPs to SHOPs. I'm trying to make use of the "VEX Layered Surface" SHOP and the Layer SOP, but there's either a bug or I'm just not getting it. I plop down a few Layer SOP's, set them to current layers 1 and 2 respectively, and put UVproject or UVtexture SOPs between them. It seems to give me separate sets of UV attrib's to work with, but when I apply my Layered Surface SHOP and render, the textures just come out WAY smeared, it looks like it's taking the first pixel or first row of pixels from the texture map and smearing it across the whole surface! There doesn't seem to be a demo for the Layer SOP, I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick example of how to use this correctly. Many thanks in advance!
