Rock on! It turns out I wasn't transforming the points. Using a space change VOP and going from World to Object space (seems backwards, but oh well) did the trick, as did putting the metanext into a subnet to force execution order. Thank a bunch, Caleb! -Sean Caleb J. Howard wrote:
I'm not running Houdini right now, so this is from memory, and thus not precise. I often have to pipe the accumulating sum into the metanext, to force the summing code to be before the metanext code in the resultant VEx code. If there is no way to do that directly into the metanext, then I could see putting the metanext into a subnet, and piping the sum into the subnet as well. If you're failing to get a handle before the loop, it could be something else, though. Also, it's important to be sure you're transforming P into the appropriate space for sampling the metaballs. Let me know if this is unhelpful, and I'll fire up Houdini tomorrow, and send you an example. Alternatively, you could send me an example, and I'd be happy to look at it for you. -caleb
