Side Effects is pleased to announce that FX Animation Barcelona 3D School is the newest member of our certified school program! FX Animation has spent a number of years building a rigorous culture of creativity with small class sizes where teachers and students can work in an environment that simulates a real-world studio.

With knowledgeable instructors and a commitment to Houdini as their main tool, FX Animation has been able to build exceptional Houdini talent and transition students seamlessly into the industry.

Certified School Program

Every year Houdini is taught at more schools and with greater enthusiasm! Although there are many great programs teaching Houdini, there are a few schools that have astounded us year after year. Our certified schools have shown a commitment to:

  • Building Excellent Houdini Skills
  • Knowledgeable Houdini Instructors
  • Helping students find their place in the industry

Students that are interested in learning Houdini will find that certified schools are a guarantee that they will get ample hands on Houdini experience and mentoring. Learning Houdini in these schools increases a student’s chances of getting their dream job working as a Houdini artist in a top studio.

Side Effects is in the midst of expanding our certified school program and will be spending the winter inviting schools to apply for certification. Schools that join this program receive the following support from Side Effects:

  • Promoting your school and your student’s work on our website and at events such as SIGGRAPH or GDC.
  • Delivering a Masterclass by Side Effects staff on a topic that aligns with each school’s curriculum.
  • Sponsoring prizes for school-run contests.
  • Free Houdini license for instructors
  • Free Houdini Engine licenses

Schools who are interested in applying for certification should contact our new Education and Training Manager, Julie Lottering at education@sidefx.com. Julie has spent the last ten years living in different countries learning languages, exploring art and making partnerships with schools around the world. As an artist and educator, her interest is in building creative communities that spur innovation and learning.
