How to maintain a constant number of particles/polygons? June 22, 2016, 10:47 a.m.
Hey guys,
New Houdini user here. Please forgive me if this seems like an elementary question. My workflow requires that I maintain a constant number of particles (if exporting particles) or polygons/faces (if exporting mesh), in order to be used in other applications for further processing.
So for example, if my emitter emits 3 million particles for 100 frames and stops, I will need to keep exactly those 3 million particles for every frame thereafter, no more no less.
Likewise for meshes. If those 3 million particles builds a mesh of, say, 3 million polygons/faces, is it possible to constrain the mesh so as to always maintain exactly 3 million polygons in the mesh, no matter how it deforms?
Thanks for your patience with me as I learn this great piece of software,

Exporting animation to Object (OBJ) sequence... June 6, 2016, 6:56 p.m.
Hey guys,
New Houdini user here. I normally work in C4D with the Houdini pipeline, but there are some things that Cinema is not able to do that I'm hoping can be done natively within Houdini. One of these things, is exporting an animation (of, say a 120-frame Ocean loop) as an Object Sequence. Is there a simple way to do this? (You'll have to talk layman's terms to me, as I am very new to Houdini and not able to do much).
Thanks so much,
Davide
