Disabling command prompts for VEX expressions in Attribute Wrangle June 21, 2017, 5:37 a.m.

Hi,

My computer (Macbook Air) doesn't deal well with the prompts for autocompletion of VEX expressions when writing code in (for example) a Attribute Wrangle. (I use Houdini 16)

Once the prompt appears on the screen I cannot continue typing- instead I must click with the mouse to move the curser which shuts the prompt- I can continue to write thereafter.

It is really annoying, so I would like to disable the prompt system but I haven't been able to find out how to do this. If someone knows I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance, Rhoslyn

Houdini License Administrator, local licensing, The license server may not serve license. Jan. 18, 2017, 8:09 a.m.

Hi I've been using Houdini Apprentice for a while successfully. Today I needed to reinstall the non-commercial licenses. Like normal when I open Houdini Apprentice it is ‘connecting to license server’ then prompts me to choose between a commercial and non commercial license, I choose to re-install my free Houdini Apprentice license… then unlike normal it crashes.

What have I done to try and fix it-

-installed a new version of houdini with local licensing -> same problem
-uninstalled everything and deleleted the folder /Library/Preferences/sesi (maybe not such a good idea) and reinstalled -first normal licensing->not working also license administrator has no ticks, only crosses in server information
-then again local licensing->still not working my license administrator informs me ‘The license server may not serve licenses’ others are ticked. (I am the administrator of my computer and re-installed Houdini as admin) it also doesn't see any of my previous licenses… which I guess kind of makes sense because I deleted it all.(?)

Now the diagnostic information pre and post deletion is pretty much the same. Changes are
PRE: Has SERVER license: Yes
POST: Has SERVER license: No

And of course all the installed but expired licenses are not in the post deletion diagnostic file.

Rem I'm a bit lost and just want it to work again… I'm on Mac OS X Yosemite and just installed Houdini 15.5.717
