Segmentation fault loading Houdini Halo program Aug. 2, 2003, 9:09 a.m.

Hi there,

There was a problem with Halo starting for the first time and not finding some preference files, but upon quitting, those files will be created. So when you load Halo again, it should run okay which is what happened in your case.

Thanks for the additional information and your patience. I'll submit the above as a bug report so that it will be looked into.

Cheers!
steven

I spoke too quickly … Halo crashed again.

reboot computer.
load Halo. no problem.
quit Halo.
load Master.
load Halo. no problem.
quit Halo.
quit Master.
load Halo. crash!

reboot computer
load Master.
load Halo. No problem.
quit Master. quit Halo.
load Halo. crash!

summary:

Once Master has run and exited, Halo cannot run until the computer is rebooted.

Can you please provide addtional information, for example, the OS you're using (Win2000 or WinXP) and graphics card? Is it still giving you a Segmentation Fault now?

Thanks!

Cheers!

Oddly enough, Halo is now loading w/o any problems. Go figure. Thank you for responding.

Except for the Halo program, I've been able to load all of the Houdini Apprentice programs.

“Fatal error: Segmentation Fault

Saving application data to CDOCUME~1/ADMINI~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/Administrator.hip”

This is the directory:

Any ideas why only Halo would generate this error?
