mirror op/ merge verts Nov. 2, 2006, 11:47 a.m.

Hey, Thanks Edward, for your quick and helpful response. Honestly, I felt pretty dumb after seeing the solution, but I will remember to do a little bit more experimenting next time before posting. ops:

So for anyone who may read this who has the same problem:
even after consolidating the seam and subdividing, it was twisting the spot where the two sides meet. What you need to do is simply delete the faces where the two boxes meet, this stops the subdivide op from inserting an extra vert right in the middle of those two faces, which causes the twisting.

okay, so i am having problems modelling a symmetrical logo in houdini.. modelling is my weak point, and oddly enough i am better in houdini that maya or max.. don't ask.

what i did was modelled one half, and i mirrored it, but i cannot figure out how to merge the verteces so that when i subdivide the object, its subdivides smoothly instead of breaking in the middle where the two mirrored objects meet. any help is appreciated because i am kinda stumped so far.. i will continue to play around though.
