The following options do not save any AOVs into an image rendered in the LOPs viewport.
-Gallery > Snap > Right click image > View Image
-Viewport sidebar > Save Current Renderer Image > Send to MPlay
-Viewport sidebar > Save Current Renderer Image > Save image
Whilst I can see the AOVs by choosing them in the Render Outputs Icon menu on the right of the viewport, none of the ways of saving viewport renders actually save the AOVs into the image. Is there any way to get this to work, ie a preference I'm missing or something?

Is this a known limitation?
I believe so. This was a very early feature in Solaris and IIRC, it's always worked this way: just saving the RGB frame buffer. It would probably need an RFE (rather than a Bug) to change it's behaviour.

There's an open RFE for the Render Gallery "Snap" button to also capture AOVs. Until then, the background rendering (i.e., the "Background" button in the Render Gallery) will capture AOVs).

is there an update to this issue? i dont think theres a way still is there to save AOV's from viewport still?
Currently Mplay doesnt have a way of doing render regions i dont think (lop camera dont have crop settings). So Mplay workflow needs render regions and viewport rendering has render regions but no saving of AOV's even though its all been calculated and is viewable.
bit of a workflow killer.
