Smokeless Flames shelf tool

Creates a small scale fire simulation with a transparent source and doesn’t emit any smoke.

On this page

This shelf tool sets up a sparse pyro simulation of a small scale flame simulation with a transparent source and smooth and rolling upward movement.

Important Nodes

attribadjustvector1

This node controls the velocity going into the simulation and is responsible for the nice rolling flames.

pointjitter1

This node makes the temperature source larger than the burn source. This ensures that the temperature field in the pyro simulation will encompass the flame field initially before dying off quickly and allowing for transparency control post simulation.

pyrobakevolume1

This is where the transparency effect is applied to the smokeless flames, by modifying the Fire Color Ramp parameter on the pyrobakevolume1. Higher temperatures are multiplied by 0, making the flame field appear transparent near the source.

Understanding Smokeless Flames

To...Do this

Adjust the size of flames

Change the Flame Lifespan parameter on the Fields tab of the pyrosolver1 node.

Adjust flame movement height

Change the Buoyancy Scale parameter on the pyrosolver1 node to control the upward movement of the flame.

Adjust flame motion

Change the Viscosity parameter on the pyrosolver1 node to control how smoothly the flame moves.

Adjust flame transparency

Change the Source Range in combination with the Fire Color Ramp parameter on pyrobakevolume1.
