As the title says, in 20.5.410 XPU does not render rounded edges when assigning materials to geometry subset faces (ie, groups). However, it does work in Karma CPU.

The only real work-around I can find is to "switch" shaders inside of the material driven by a primitive primvar attribute.
Here's a couple screen caps just to illustrate.
