I downloaded the file, which ends with a .dmg.html extension.
I then deleted the .html part, but the dmg fails to mount.
What should I do?

I downloaded with Safari first. Then I tried Firefox and it downloaded without the .html extension, but the problem is the same. The disk mounter fails and Toast doesn't recognize it as a disc image.

You should try a different build.
Go to Support > Download and scroll down until you find a build that you'd like to try. 9.5.169 or 9.5.171 would be good examples of an alternative to what you're using now.

Hello …
I have the same problem with my new MacPro 10.5, fully updated.
I downloaded houdini-9.5.170-macosx_x86_64_gcc4.0_10.5.dmg twice
with FireFox, but both gave the same “not recognized” error.

The download/packing problem is fixed now. Sorry about that - give it another shot.
