Full Version: Why does my cloth sim fail?

I've made a very simple cloth sim so test interaction with a solid object, but the cloth is passing right through.

Can anyone tell me why this is?

Probably some oversight, but mmm…not immediately obvious :?

While I agree that the cloth solver should do something more sensible (possible bug?), you can enhance it' behaviour by enhancing the cloth resolution. If you set the grid divisions to something like 35x35 you should see more of what you are expecting.

Yup - it's a known issue. To correct for it, bump up the divisions as anamous suggested AND go into your AutoDopNetwork, select the grid_object1 node, and in the Material tab, turn on Constrain Stretch. That way those pesky holes in your cloth won't stretch themselves wide around the collision points.
Try that and you'll be closer to what you're looking for.

Thanks I'll give that a try!
