I am wondering why light arrays evaluate at intensity of zero regardless of setting.

I created the light array as follows.
1 In Objects added a light.
2 In Light1 geometry I appenned a geodesic sphere SOP, and CopySOP
3 Connected the geodesic as stamp surface and last light geo SOP as instance object. The result was a spherical array of lights. To be used with HDRSHop and Mantra to emulate ambient occlusion effect.

However the resulting light array renders at intensity of zero regardless of intensity setting, Properties.

BTW.
Is there a ‘Ambient Occlusion’ tutorial for Mantra V5.5

Thank you

Hey Dave,

You have to create a Light for each point of the geodesic Sphere because a Light object in Houdini is treated as one light source. The SOP network within is for visualisation of the light direction, cone size etc.

If you're using HDRShop, there is a plugin to export a Houdini script which will generate the Lights correctly. Is that not working for you?

Alternatively, you can go to this link: http://www.lewkiw.com/ [lewkiw.com] and on the left column, click on the “2002: Global Lighting Houdini” link.

Cheers!
