This scene i made for my demo reel…and was great fun!
i can agree its not perfect, but i could learn a lot doint it.

The meteor's fire and smoke are made with metaball from particles to volumes, debris are made with particles and simulate on dops for the shock wave…the grass is houdini fur…i got a picture from internet.
I made the comp and do a lot of effects on Autodesk Smoke.

I think i can do a better grass, and add some scattering on meteor's smoke
but i dont know how…yet!

Critics, tips and comments are very welcome.
cya!

You said like noise on shader or for particles ?
i had a problem that was the mesh of metaballs, on copy to particles it became very unstable and looks odd, so i simplify, with less movement…if you can give any tip to avoid this ill glad.

Hi ,
by variation :- look at how uniform the smokes colour / scattering is . you have a great camera angle there I would just refine and improve to make it even better !

When you see airplanes pass over, the trail (which of course isn't real smoke) fades after some time by mixing with other gases, cooling down (or heating up). Anyway it becomes less dense. So to make your meteor more realistic you could add some effects to accomplish that.

Anyway, well done!

Thanks for the comments….
Pagefan, i'll do that, not in this scene, but i have another meteor project, but with a live action take…
I want to do some scattering on smoke but i dont know how to do, any tips?
