Wen i start houdini master it says i need to get a licence and then it hangs…. cant do anything
wen i start licence server ….. again i cant do anything
after i reinstaled and re downloaded and reinstaled it still doesnt work

i got Houdini Apprentice 5.5.151

But yeah, that's pretty odd. You use Win2K, so well you could try getting the latest drivers for your videocard and re-run hkey.exe again.

i also got 2k and a gforce 3 ti 200 …

Oh and, I almost forgot, what is the name of you're computer? It's quite essential to get the license server running.

So check if you got that right.

It seems SideFX's license server has been down since sometime early Saturday morning. I retrieved three licenses on Friday night, but it's been down since then. If you check the licensing page here:

You will see it doesn't work. You can't run Houdini because it can't retrieve a license for you from SideFX. Just hold tight. It'll probably be back tomorrow.

like the person who started this chain, I get the server connection error.
I have been trying since Saturday 31st May but with no joy.

I understand the server is back up but i still have problems getting the licence, i get the following message:

“Licence Error: Unable to connect to hserver for licence acquisition”

any thoughts why this is?
do i have to do anything else?

Try This-

1) Go to control panels> Administrative tools> open “services”.

2) Look on the list for Houdini Server. Should be under Houdini client.

3) Right click on it to start it from the context menu or via “properties”.
