Hi all,

I downloaded the Houdini Apprentice Edition from www.techimage.co.uk and got all of the videos and pdfs, but I can't seem to find where to get the example files necessary to complete the video and pdf tutorials. Any help will be greatly appreciated…

Hi Rod,

Yes. That's why I disabled the “index.html” files
from automatically displaying in the web browser on
the Apprentice Mirror at Sydney VisLab:

http://www.vislab.usyd.edu.au/sidefx [vislab.usyd.edu.au]

If you click on “cd2” at the above link you will be
able to “go down into” the CDROM and pull out the
files that you are looking for. eg:

http://www.vislab.usyd.edu.au/sidefx/cd2/learningData/ [vislab.usyd.edu.au]

Although this server is in Australia, I think you
will be impressed with its speed!
It's got a gigabit i/net connection. :-)

Everything from the Apprentice disc 2 should be available from this site but do let me know (contc. on Techimage web site) if you have any problems so we can ensure Apprentice and all support material is easy to obtain.

If you read the .pdf manuals from the help menu, you will find frequent references to example files. These files are missing. They are not on CD 2 or linked to on the Sidefx site. If anyone knows if, or were they can be found, I'd love to get ahold of them. They seem to be quite a valuable learning resource when you are using the Pdf manual.

Yes, I've got all the tutorial files, and they are most helpful.
However, the missing files are not included with the tutorial files.

The files im in search of are the EXAMPLE files from the pdf manual under help, not the tutorials. Most OP types have a bunch of files named as examples. If you check each chapter and note the files they refer to, you'll see what I mean. The dir that they should be in is $HFS/demo. I've found a couple of them in the /archive dir on CD 2.

Maybe these files are restricted to paying customers?
Anyhow, I'm greatful for the Apprentice version as is. :wink:
