Hey,

I feel a bit ridiculous to ask this but how do we get a render region when rendering to mplay?

I think the tool being used to render regions in the interactive viewport should transfer.

I currently work in 20.0.590

Right now, rendering to mplay is fairly one-directional. You can click in the image to send back the "focus the rendering in this area" signal, but other tools like specifying the render region in mplay are not yet supported.

Thanks Rob! Would be great to add this function, since rendering inside the interactive viewport is creeping up memory on Windows. Rendering to mplay to outsource the task to a husk command line is way more efficient.
Thanks for considering this function cheers!

Yes, we continue to develop workflows that direct users to "mplay" (I include the Render Gallery in this - snapshots, background renders, clone renders), and are definitely aware that the feature-set of what can be done there is still lacking. We do hear you

Hi Rob, any news about this feature?

This type of functionality is not expected to show up in future Houdini 20.5 builds.

Beyond that ... no comment at this time
