Hi all,

So I'm trying out Houdini (and yes, I'm an absolute beginner). What I want to create is an animation of a tube with some thickness and chamfered edges, like a high poly part of some headphones. This animation is a pyro sim where the tube is gradually formed from the bottom up in a liquid kind of animation. I got this to work using VDB's and some noise applied to the pyro sim. Looks pretty good;-)

But I have a question concerning the model of he tube. Because I converted my model to a VDB, it will loose some definition. Only when I increase the resolution of the VDB it will kind of match my original model but this takes up allot of time (and working on a laptop, that's not recommended;-)). It's important that the final result is a match with the original geo.

Is there a way to get my original geo back when the animation is finished and somehow transition from the VDB animation back to the original geo?

I hope this is clear and this will make sense, any questions are welcome!!

You could use a vdb version of your headphones that is slightly bigger.
Then use a boolean set to intersect with your original headphones.
