Hellou Everyone,

I am getting into terrain and environmnet creation. Now I am wondering since I am using Solaris, how to go about scattering USD Assets in combination with the Labs Biome Tools. So far I imported them into SOPs and unpacked them, reassigned the Materials manually. Isn't there a better way?

I couldn't find any tutorials out there about that. Any help is appreaciated!

Hellou everyone,

replying to my own post to document findings.

So far the best approach is to use a SOP create and than create your scattering in there. Than use the "Create Point Instancer" option for Packed Primitives. This works fine, but there are some better approaches that would work more integrated with Solaris. But for my purposes its good enough.

Now I stumbled upon a different problem though: the "Biome Labs Plant Define" can't handle USD variants, when they are exported as to the official Houdini Documentation for the Component Builder (see htttps://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/solaris/component_builder.html at the bottom)

This is kinda annyoing, because it would mean for me to export all my assets with a different folder structure again... Is there something that could be done about that or is this anyways in the works at the Labs Team?

I am happy to file an RFE if this unintended behavior.

Best
Josh
