Full Version: attribpaint and visibility nodes

I have stacked grids in Y axis with gaps between. With the attribpaint node I need the ability to paint each grid separately. Using groups and the visibility node I can hide prims and paint different grids and all works great. Now I need to put those nodes in a hda and it falls apart. Following Jeff Lait youtube paint masterclass I get the attribpaint working inside the hda but it ignores the visibility node unless it's outside the hda. Any ideas if/how this can be accomplished.

You've come across an inherent 'feature' of subnet nodes which are used for creating digital assets.

There's several options you can do that perhaps gets you closer to a working solution.

I've created an embedded asset in this hip file with some set ups you can combine to your preferences.

The first to note is that when creating your asset:

In the assets 'Edit Operator Type Properties' there is a tab labelled 'Node'.

In there, because it's relative reference by default you can just type in the name of your paint node. Then before saving node type > match current definition - set the display flag on the paint node.

With asset now saved, you can select that asset, go inside and select the paint node.

Other options to throw into the mix and perhaps help is set up multiple output options as in the example hip.
