Hello everyone,

We are trying to render a flying bird using Solaris + Arnold with a feather system in Houdini, but we can’t get any motion blur on the feathers.

The issue appears when rendering the bird with condensed feathers. Because of groom issue, we cannot use the Houdini procedural feather workflow to transfer the groom from proxies. Instead, we had to generate the feathers outside solaris, then import the feathers with the animation and not proxies into Solaris.

The feathers render correctly, but no motion blur is visible, even though the bird is moving.

Has anyone encountered this issue before, or has advice on how to get motion blur (velocity or deformation blur working in this setup with Arnold?

I hope the explanation is clear, any help would be really really appreciated. Thanks !!

I don't use Arnold, but does your feathers have velocity attribute? And set to use velocity blur with the Render Geometry Settings node?

They have, It's working for the barbs, they have velocity blur but not the hard center of the feather (the rachis) it doesn't get the velocity

Does it work as expected using Karma?

Hi @Flavie, which version of Houdini and which version of HtoA are you encountering this issue in?
