Full Version: pscale vs widths conversion (radius vs diameter)
Root » Solaris and Karma » pscale vs widths conversion (radius vs diameter)

according to docs SOP Import LOP is automatically converting pscale, width and widths attributes to widths
but it doesn't seem to convert the values

while nowadays pscale in houdini represents radius
widths in USD represents diameter (according to USD docs)

so I'd assume it should also convert between radius and diameter (and vice versa when importing back to SOPs) because currently SOP viewport shows one size and Karma renders another

I've seen inconsistency between how the widths value is used in the viewer depending on which delegate is active.

right, but regardless, the USD specs defines it as diameter so I feel like it should be consistent on Houdini side

the fact that both pscale (radius) and width (diameter) in SOPs map to widths without value conversion shows already this inconsistency regardless of whether widths would be radius or diameter, one of them would always be converted wrong

The bug cited (102816) was marked as resolved in Feb 2020 ... are you still seeing any such issues?

I can confirm that it is working. Sorry for the false alarm. Pixar Renderman 27 has issues with reading the grains correctly in Houdini vs Solaris.. but they can't fix on their end due to backwards compatibility restrictions. Everything renders correctly when I bring into Solaris. Sorry again.
