I'm trying to export a .usdz export for use with the Quick Look feature in Safari on iOS.

Unfortunately, I don't know if this is down to my lack of familiarity with LOPs, with the USD format, or if this is Apple needing some specific support, but I can't get ARKit to read my exports at all. Is this something anyone has had any luck with?

I can generally get the mesh to appear, but it appears pink, with ARKit failing to find the materials.

I'm not really looking to do anything fancy as far as scene composition goes - I just want to import a geometry from SOPs, with all of its materials and textures, and package that into a .usdz

At the moment I'm using a Scene Import node in LOPs, then a USD ROP, followed by a USDZ ROP. I've also tried a SOP Import, but I can't get that to create materials in the Scene Graph at all - at least with a Scene Import, I can get it to create Materials… but they don't seem to get used?

Any advice appreciated

Houdini can export usdz directly, but it's beta and bleeding edge, I haven't tested it.

Awesome, that's a start!

Man, he really needs to work on his SEO, I never understand why Tokeru pages aren't the top Google search results for Houdini queries.

Now to figure out how to make multiple materials work.

Heh, ‘he’ is ‘me’, it mostly hovers around the top of google assuming you type the right keywords.

Doh - I actually thought to check whether you were or not before replying, but at 2am my brain came to the wrong conclusion Legitimately though, this is the third or fourth time that I've been trying to look something up about Houdini, only to find out later that there is detailed reference for it on Tokeru without it ever coming up on Google.

I suppose the moral of the story is to check Tokeru for reference first, then Google
