Full Version: How to export EXR from COPS to have ACES color space

I've rendered a sequence that's noisy so I've decided to pass it through the Denoise AI node in COPS but I've noticed that the resultant EXR is less saturated than the original even when I remove the denoise AI node i.e. import and export from COPs with no processing. I believe the image data hasn't been changed but in MPlay it shows a different colour space. In the original image it says "ACES - ACEScg", while in the one exported from COPS it says lin_rec709 in MPlay. In the ROP image output node, even setting the colorspace to "ACES - ACEScg" still results in lin_rec709 to be shown in MPlay info.

My temporary solution is to bake the OpenColorIO to display: ACES, view: sRGB and export PNGs but I would prefer to keep them EXRs for as long as possible.

I'm using Houdini 20.5 on Windows and ACES 1.2.

Have you by any chance been able to find the solution? I am facing the same issue and can't seem to figure it out.

In COPS, make sure to set your color management to ACES before exporting. Use OpenEXR format with the correct ACES output transform (like ACEScg) in the export settings.
