Hey guys,

Recently I noticed that when I do
sudo /etc/init.d/sesinetd restart
, I am getting the following warning:

Stopping Houdini License server
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
All legacy commands will be removed in the next release.
Please transition to the new interface before next release.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

.
Starting Houdini License server.

What is the new alternative to this?

Thanks,
Vlad

Pure speculation, but I think it means the init-scripts are done for in favor of systemd.

I see, ok, I was afraid that might be a sesinet.d warning.

Thanks!

@madjestic That error is referring to sesictrls older options such as `-f`. To see the new commands run `sesictrl --help`. Note the new options have been around since Houdini 18.0.

@protozoan We do plan to switch to systemd from the init.d script. Note we already ship a sesinetd.service (systemd) script for sesinetd but the installer does not install this script for you. It's unlikely we would fully replace the init.d script. Instead, install the systemd script and only ship the init.d script.

Cheers,
