I just installed Houdini 10 apprentice on ubuntu 9.04 and I am having problems with my display. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like Pretty messed up huh? Anyway, I am VERY new to Linux and I am still getting things sorted out. Compiz is off and my wacom tablet is unplugged. Video Driver: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
Hmm … I'm not sure if anyone's tried the Intel video card OpenGL drivers on Linux. I just know that plain old Mesa GL drivers seem to work in Ubuntu 8.04 under VirtualBox.
I tried following the directions for installing the driver software but I was having a bit of trouble. The directions say to navigate to tar the package, navigate to the directory where the files get unpacked to and use the commands; compile and then make. I looked in the main folder of the package and there are no make or compile files (I think you need those to do those operations).
When I installed some software from a repository one time I used the “git” thing but I completely forgot how to do it again. When I did it before I used two “addresses”, an http address and a key to enable my computer to access the repository. Could someone tell me how to do this? I promise I will write the instructions down so's I don't have to ask again.

I just installed the mesa drivers but that didn't help
