hi, i was wondering how could be this done in houdini with particles:

i gues is just about giving some custom cos or sin operation to the position of an emiter, but how could be that operation?

Hi,
You can try using cos e sin functions in a transform sop to drive a particle source, a disk for example.

I'm sure there are more elegant methods

There used to be a spirograph HDA posted around here somewhere. But for the life of me, I can't find it anymore.

You could create an emiter and target (Look At) it towards a null where you either manually type in a cos and sin expression in the tx and tz channel, or apply a motion effect to thos channels.
