Hi all,
Here's a little work I made with Houdini apprentice HD.
Hope you'll like it

I saw Jeff Lait's video “Houdini 9.5 Fluids Overview” on Fluids Technical Evening and i'm recreating a similar wave situation. But I don't understand how to isolate particles that collide on the rock (in the video it says: “isolate the particles which will be used for the hero splash, in this case, based on $VY>=5 and a white color passed from the rock”) to build the hero splash. Can you help me, please? Do you have some example?
Thank you very much in advance!
Bye,
Mirco

Hi all,
Here's my last work. I must admit it was quite hard to complete this piece of work.
Some info about the simulation:
There's 5 sim in the scene:
1- The falling water (SPH)
2- Foam particles of falling water(POP whitecaps)
3- Water spray during the collision between water. (POP particles emitted with an emitter created by the intersection between falling water mesh and static water mesh)
4-Foam particles of water spray (POP whitecaps)
5-The lake ( simulazione SPH)

Hi all,
Here's a 58 frame simulation of a Street Flood on which I worked the last 2 weeks.
I used 4 days of sim calculation and 1 day for rendering.
I tried to achieve an excellent water simulation and mesh shape.
Hope you'll like it,
Mirco

Hi all,
I did this test(a still for now) where I tried to achieve a very detailed mesh of a big mass of fluid.
I simulated about 300.000 particles and set the point scale radius and surface distance at very low values.
Here's the still:

Hi,
This is my new test I realized to try to reach a correct high resolution simulation of a fluid like water.
The advection method is XSPH and the mesh has an huge density of polygon.
Here's the test:

btw guys!
do you think houdini is good in water simulation like realflow?
i have seen some good water animations with blender (youtube), i even didnt know blender was so capable of that!
i dont wanna start that childish war between appz, since i even dont have a realflow apprentice version…
but i am really interested in use houdini in future for water simulations!
This is my new water simulation in Houdini:
http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=16462 [sidefx.com]
I think that Houdini and Realflow are both good, but Houdini requires more settings and study in the way to achieve a good water simulation.

Hi all,
Here's my second houdini fluid simulation.
This time I realized a big amount of water that flows along an Hallway. I've paid attention on the simulation and on the mesh quality, but not very much on the rendering. At the end of the clip I also showed a playblast from houdini viewport.
Simulation Time: about 10 hours
Rendering Time:about 4 hours
The next step is to add some whitecaps.
Hope you'll like it.
Bye,
Mirco

Aside from Chris' funny comment , I like the simulation & render. Just wish it was longer.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers!
steven
Thank you! I'm glade that you appreciated my work.
By the way I'm working on a water simulation along an hallway
and it is longer than this.

Hi,
Is there a node or a check to kill alone particles in a particle fluid simulation?
Or should I create an expression?
Thank you very much.

Sorry for my english but i'm italian :-).
I thought that “water broke” was the title of another houdini simulation

Hi all,
I'm new in the forum and about 3 weeks ago I started the study of Houdini because i want to make a VFX reel after about 3 years of generalist in Maya for hobby.
Now this is my first test of a water splash. My goal was to achieve a good mesh and simulation and I didn't care too much about the rendering :-)
Hope you'll like it.
