Hi Jeff.
Thanks for the response. Attached is the area that I'm talking about. Basically those areas circled are where the geometry is. I don't want to have any thing render where the source is. I just want to have the flames render, not what is fueling\sourcing the flames. Sorry I'm having a hard time explaining this… Ask if you need more clarification.
In the picture, I only want what is above the red circles to be rendered. Not the area where the flames are being emitted from.
Thanks!

Hey guys, I've always wondered this, is there a way to not render the fluids where the source is? I have a project I'm working on and I only want the flames for it, not the big blob that is the source. I do have the geo SOP that contains the source turned off.
Attached is a picture of my problem.
Thanks..

Hello. I can't seem to figure out something super basic. I have an image that I want to project cubicly on my object. Under the “Uv Project I can't find the answer there, I'm sure there is another way to do this, considering this is SUPER basic stuff.
Attached is a picture of the menu that lacks the ”cubic" mode, any idea where I can find it somewhere else?
Thanks.

Hey guys, question. I have a pyro setup, and I want to kill voxles(?) after being a live for more than 20 frames. How would I go about doing this? I'm guessing there is a small expression added somewhere, maybe a micro-solver?
Thanks.
Thanks.

That is just meta balls, but I cant figure it out… I tried looking through the houdini help, I can't figure that out, I'm pretty sure its not like actual hand placed muscles, its more of a general metaball of you're whole mesh, but I really don't know. Anyone know how to use this?

Thanks. I'm surprised the “autorig” doesn't come with the muscles built in, an option for that at least.

Also, for the ribcage, I guess that I can model the ribcage and have that collide with the skin?(How to set this up in houdini?) So if my character bends back the ribs will deform my skin to show the ribcage.
Some examples of what I'm talking about….

Hello. I am very interested in rigging in houdini. I've done some rigging before in maya, it was a while ago and it wasn't anything special, just personal projects.
I'm very confused how how the whole rigging process goes, I'm hoping someone can clear this up for me.
Right now I am painting weights on a character to each joint(bones, but not the modeled kind)
At the end of the day I want to have a skin that deforms by muscles for realism. Right now I made a auto rig in houdini, and painted weights on for each bone(joint). What is my next step for the muscles? and how do I get them to collide with the skin and deform it? Also in this video this person has bones modeled to collide with the the muscles. Do I do that too?

Can you send me the geometry file or another file with the same setup? I think I know how to deal with this but I would need to check if this works with the setup you have in your model.
Please include the displacement maps for reference.

I have a model in mudbox that i sculpted, exported that as a .OBJ and imported into Houdini (when I goto the UV view in Houdini two tiles show up as shown in Mudbox). The I set up the UVs in mudbox to have two UV tiles (http://download.autodesk.com/us/mudbox/help2010/images/MED/Dragnet/English/Painting/comp_uv_multitile.png). [download.autodesk.com] I exported a displacement map out of mudbox, two separate displacement maps were created for each UV tile. My question is how do I set this up in houdini to displace using two separate displacement maps.
I hope that cleared things up, thanks!

lol, yeah I just realized that. For some reason it doesn't work when I do it both in the same material node… and idea?

Ok, I think I just figured it out, make two materials and merge them? It seems to be working perfectly fine for me.

Hello, I've done searches for this but got to a dead end. Does Houdini support Multi UV tiles? I have a model in Mudbox that has 2 Tiles what is the work for for bringing this into houdini?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not 1 hr per ROPfram'e as you're experiencing, but if you already cached out the sim, there's no reason why it should take that long. Unless you're like ROPping out the entire scene every frame somehow.
Yeah Idk whats up. How long does it take you to ROP that out at .05 divisions? I get through the first 35 frames fast then it takes 1+ per frame.

Hey Lari, great info, been using it all is going well. How ever my houdini still won't let me use all my ram or CPU when ROPing out the sim, any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks again for the post.
