Hi i just installed the new version everything went great except that there are no icons? All the areas are there to click and they are labeled but there is no pictures. Everything worked fine with version 10. Im running ubuntu 10.04 64 bits.

just wanted to add i just updated my ati drivers to the latest 10.7 and there is still no icons.

Try removing the SVGIcons.cache and SVGIcons.cache.serial files in your houdini11.0/config/Icons directory (located in your home directory). They might be corrupted (somehow).

For me, on snow leopard, the probs were permissions on H11 folder in /home_user/Librairies/Preferences/Houdini/H11

If you launch from houdini shell, you can see errors on log and all preferences changes can't be saved.

Just allow permissions and all works fine.

I just had this problem and noticed that my 11 folder is empty in ~/Preferences/Houdini/11

The 10 folder has some elements, but 11 is completely empty…What is the fix for that!

Ha…just deleted the 11.0 folder and let a relaunch build it and all works fine…

Which Houdini build did you install? 11.0.???

tried every suggested option but still no luck. I am facing the same problem even if I installed the 10.0.595. Even i had formatted the system and tried to install Houdin 10.0.595 and 11.0.446.9 But still the problem continues.
I didnot get how to make folder ($HIP/mydocuments/houdini) writeable to solve the same problem as it is mentioned in one ofthe posts above.
I tried deleting the SVGIcons.cache and SVGIcons.cache.serial files in houdini11.0/config/Icons directory, didnt work. Tried cut copy and pasting these files\ config folder/Houdini folder in other drives. It didnt help.
The strange thing is couple of days back version 10.0.595 was running withot any problem but suddenly I dont know what happened the same version is not showing the display icons.
My system Config is
AMD Athlon 945 Quad core processor.
Asus NVdia Chipset M4n… Motherboard
2 GB RAM
1GB Graphics card 4325 ATI REDON. ( with updated drivers)

Try deleting the whole houdini11.0 or houdini10.0 directory.

No ,it didnt work
I uninstalled the Houdini NC software and reinstalled it. Before activating the license if I go to license admin it still shows me the previous licenses (both V. 10 and V.11). Does this mean the software is not uninstalling properly?

The license server won't uninstall I think unless it thinks that there are no more Houdini installations. However, that shouldn't matter. You don't mention which OS you are running. Please start a new thread like this one [sidefx.com] so that others may more easily help you.

Added group and world permission recursively to houdini dir
deleted SVGIcons.cache.serial

btw., my SVGIcons.cache.serial is empty (0kB) and there is no SVGIcons.cache file.
