Hi!

In a few recent installs of houdini ( including 21.0.479 21.0.440, 20.5.695), upon installing the Houdini Engine Unity plugin, there is no "HoudiniEngineUnity.unitypackage" file in the Houdini_Engine/Unity/<version> folder.

Older installs had a .unitypackage file, and only that file.

However now there is an Assets folder, but no custom package to import into unity, and seemingly no way to get the Houdini Engine menu in Unity.

Is there a new method for importing and setting up the Houdini Engine in Unity?

Should I just import an older version of the .unitypackage file? And add the newer Assets folder?

Thanks!
William

Hi William,

Try manually copying the entire plug-in directory from your Houdini install to your Unity project:

C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini Engine\Unity\21.5.87\Assets\Plugins\HoudiniEngineUnity
>> Documents\My Unity Project\Assets\Plugins

This is the preferred method of installing the plug-in.

You can follow the most recent Houdini documentation with detailed instructions:

Hi Alex.

Thank you. I'll follow the instructions in the link that you provided. I think that I mistakenly assumed that the plugin would be set up for me when choosing the Unity Plugin option when installing a new version of Houdini. Somehow I missed where the method has changed. I appreciate your help!
