If you can somehow transfer the project to Blender and meet your deadline, maybe do it and come back later. I'll also go back and try other things when I finish with this render

If you're thinking of downgrading to Windows 10, or going back to older RTX series, be careful. I'm on Windows 10 (Extended Security Updates), with RTX 3060 cards, and I have this issue as well. Since mid-January, when my system received update KB5073724. What's worse, Windows Update doesn't allow me to remove it.

If its really an issue with Windows then GPU rendering with Cycles would produce errors as well, wouldn't it? If it doesnt, what does XPU Karma differently? If it does I can as well render on CPU in Houdini.
Edit: I can not find any reports on crashes during GPU rending in Blender related to the Windows update.

Since we're on a Sidefx forum, I guess the closest party with technical insight that could hear us out and look into it is Sidefx. Eventually they may talk to nvidia and/or Microsoft

An update of sorts:
We are in communication with Microsoft, and they have identified a problem in dxgmm2.sys and have a fix in the works, but have yet to supply a date/KB. We'll update here once we know more.
Thanks for your patience.

On Windows 10, it has been stable for me since the KB5075912 update (February 10). I don't know if there's a similar one for Windows 11.

I just installed windows 11 N LTSC. All's been stable for me since. No crash. The fact is that updating an operating system the way Microsoft does is not at all suitable for production environments where stability and control are paramount. So many things can go wrong with updates, as they have proven several times. That's why they have these LTSC versions of windows available.
They just sent out there and copied the mobile OS models of update and feature additions as if a mobile device and a PC were used in the same way.

We have had confirmation from Microsoft that this is now indeed fixed.
"The fix went out in KB5077179, OS Build 28000.157. It rolled out over time starting mid-Feb, but should be generally available to everyone now. It specially covers the bug in the VirtualMemory allocator in dxgmms2.sys"
You can read more here:

We have tested internally and can confirm we no longer get the crash.
Thanks all for your patience

That's some good news. Thanks for staying on top of it. Will update in the future. For now, no need to rock my system boat.

Isnt KB5077179 for 26H1 which seems to be a bit special? Not sure I can/should upgrade to it even with a 9950x / 5090 RTX
