Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a highly reproducible, silent crash to the desktop in Houdini 21, and I'm trying to isolate whether this is a specific software conflict or a hardware-level TDR kill.

Rendering by pressing the render button works. CPU viewport works as well no problem. This seems to be a Karma XPU viewport issue.

The Issue:

Houdini instantly and silently closes to the desktop (no freeze, no Windows error) when I navigate or tumble the camera in a Karma XPU viewport. This is especially aggressive if I run a flipbook of the viewport. Even on light scenes.

System Specs:

Houdini Version: 21.0.700

OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro, Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8457)

CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K (32 Cores)

RAM: 63.75 GB

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090

NVIDIA Driver: Studio Driver Version 595.79

Has anyone else encountered this specific XPU instability, or have any insight into preventing a TDR timeout during XPU camera navigation?

Thanks,
PJ
