Hello,

i was prototyping a lattice deformation setup in APEX and i am currently stuck, as i can't seem to get the initial lattice orientation to work. Also moving the joint that Controls the Lattice, moves the geometry into a different direction.

In the setup i am using localalxform instead of xform to set the lattice joint's transform -and apply an offset to it (to match the position)- , so my lattice doesn't deform when it's parent(the wheel) moves or rotates.

Would really appreciate it if someone could have a look at the file and tell me why it's not working the way i would expect it to work

Thank you,

Dani

Hi,
You where heading in the right direction.
I have cleaned up the file a little and added a fuse graph option.

You dont have to merge the geo in the rig, this can be done when you invoke the rig.
merge operations are generally a little bit of a bottleneck in the rig.

That's nice, and not having to split the lattice and Base.skel is really simplifying the setup, thanks!

Lets say i have a situation where i want to move the parent of the wheel, but have the wheel still deformed, which was the reason for having the latticePt TransformObject parented to the torus and using the localxform of latticePt (plus an offset so the worldposition is matched) for setting it's transform in my file.
This then only worked when deforming with the lattice first, before bonedeforming everything else, but gave me this weird initial state i showed in my question.

So my ideal situation is the wheel following the parent, have the wheel still deformed and the latticePoint and it's deformation stick to the "groundlevel" of the wheel, while it is rotating.
