I really like the new UI, but I'm so disappointed by the merciless and pointless text scaling in the shelf. The screenshot compares 21 and 22 at the same zoom level.
Look at those Cr, Mo, Mo, and those tiny tool names. Here on the enlarged preview screen they may seem large, but in reality they are tiny.
Apparently, 4K users without hawk-like vision are doomed to suffer.
Maybe there's a setting responsible for this? But I searched and couldn't find one.
I regretfully switched to the old UI because I often click on the shelf.

But have you seen the new Color Editor? I'm so incredibly happy, it's exactly what I've always wanted from a color editor! Huge thanks to SideFX!

The tabs in the viewport settings look really sad.

Ugh... one of the main hopes I had was that they would fix the text, readability, ui scaling and all other ui related inconsistencies they had.

To be honest, based on the teaser, I expected we would be able to change element colors through a user-friendly interface. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and we still have to rely on that ancient Python script—the Viewport Color Editor—hidden deep inside Houdini. You have to locate it, tweak the code just to make the Dark Grey theme appear, figure out how to make it selectable on the tabs, and only then use it. Why does it have to be so complicated? I already went through this entire process in version 21 with the help of AI, and now I have to repeat it all over again in version 22.
Furthermore, in version 22, this legacy code is already bugged: it only displays the names of new colors as text instead of showing the actual color previews. Dear developers, could you please update this script, fix the bugs, and expand it with new elements? That would be highly appreciated. I sincerely hope the team keeps moving forward and expands the user-facing color settings for components. It is a good start, but frankly, it is not enough.
Additionally, while APEX handles now feature a "width" setting, regular handles still completely lack this option. I was really hoping to see it implemented in this release.
Finally, the new circles on the floating viewport gnomon in the corner are way too large relative to the axes. They overlap with each other, creating a colorful mess instead of improving readability. They should be about half their current size. Also, they don't really need text on them—a simple fake shaded sphere with a specular highlight would be more than enough to easily distinguish the orientation.

Please submit a bug. Tab headings are not cut off like that on my 1080p monitors. And the scale of the "Text" display of shelf tools is possibly a bug too.
Gaalvk
Yeah, the issue is only visible in 4K. There's no point in setting the scale to 2x on a 1080p screen—it only makes sense for 4K. You really need to get a 4K monitor, even if it's just for testing purposes! You'll immediately notice quite a few things that will hurt your eyes.

Even on my 2560px wide monitor it has issues:

But we should stop here. As the admin said discussing bugs here is against the forum's rules. Talking about Houdini's issues here will result in banning hammer. Scary!

This is mainly because while many of the SideFX staff lurk on the forums, we don't do so with the sort of consistency that ensures that the correct developers see the issues mentioned. I, for instance, am not on the UX team, so the fact that I've seen this thread doesn't mean that I can do anything about the bugs. That is why logging a bug or an RFE is the best way to get your issues communicated to the relevant team.
