Initialising Houdini, The console shows me this message:

Warning: OpenGL shader extensions not available.
This is a limitation of your video card
or driver, and will prevent Houdini from
using GLSL shaders.
Set the HOUDINI_OGL_ENABLE_SHADERS
environment variable to zero to avoid
attempts to use this extension.

Where could I change the enviroment variables??

right click on “my computer” > last option “ properties” > “advanced”> “environment variables” > in system variable or user variable ,press “new” to make a variable > fill the name with :“ HOUDINI_OGL_ENABLE_SHADERS” . fill the value “ 0 ” . save and everything ok .

if possible , get a better video card . maybe u video card is a on board card .

It would also help if you save out the diagnostic information from glview and attach it in this forum.

I have the same problem. My graphics card is NVidia Quadro FX 3500. It is 100% compatible with OGL 2.1. But it is not compatible with OGL 3.0 or 3.1. Could it be the reason?

Houdini 10.0 does not use OpenGL 3.X. It's probably due to something else.

I seems that I found a reason: there was Adobe After Effects CS4 running in background and that caused the problem. It seems that AE CS4 occupies OpenGL's resources very aggressively.
