Without a snapshot I'm just guessing, but is it mach-banding that you're seeing? (it would look something like contour lines on a map) These are due to accumulated error when compositing in 8b. If the X1600 supports it, you can try turning on HDR Rendering in the Display options Effects tab.

this is problem with viewport display of all volume geometry on xp32sp3-x1600mob

I think that sampling division in iso offset conversion(fog ans sdf volume mode)when is not 2^n is making problems in viewport .tnx

It's actually a bug in the ATI legacy driver that isn't converting FP32 data to the internal 8bit RGBA properly. There are a couple of other minor issues, but that's the main one.

any workaround?

in houdini 10 it was ok.
