I've started to model a character with the use of metaballs because it was quick and rounded, which was close to what I wanted for my cartoony character.
But then, I'd like some parts to be flat (such as the foot soles) and tried to edit the form but couldn't do anything. I guess because they're metaballs and not polygons meshes, am I right?
How could I convert the character to an editable object to flatten, deform etc… ?
Should I use a different approach for the creation of the character?

append Convert Meta SOP
there you have several options to control density of resulting polygonal geometry

Thank you! I will try that as soon as I'm back home ;-)

Note also that you can get a cube-like shape if you set the metaball's XY component parameter to 0.

Oh! Good to know! thank you!
I used the convert meta SOP as said by tamte and it works, thanks to both of you!
