Only the grid-based fluid simulators (smoke, pyro) have GPU acceleration. And the acceleration is done with OpenCL, not Cuda.

So just to clarify, if you're running Houdini on Windows 7, then even with a high end graphics card you will not get the benefits of the GPU acceleration? Or did I misunderstand something?

OpenCL is also available in Windows 7, but you should stick with NVIDIA Cards at the moment. They are much more stable ..

OK, so do I need to install OpenCL, or that's done by Houdini? Or does it come as part of the Nvidia drivers install?

Never mind, I can see that it comes with the nvidia driver, supposedly it's OpenCL 1.1.
