Hi fellow Houdini users!

I've been watching rbd tutorials and trying to understand the basics of rigid body simulation in Houdini. So I've set myself a challenge to build a simple brick wall smash sequence.

I've got a brick wall as an “rbd packed object” and a sphere as a static object. So far so good. However the simulation itself is very odd, the bricks get pushed out of the way by the sphere, and then they just hang there before gravity kicks in. It's like they're suspended in jelly, there is no momentum or very little!

Most out my settings are default, so any ideas?

Thanks!
Jordan

Animated static objects can cause a bit of trouble since they teleport from frame to frame. See http://forums.odforce.net/index.php?/topic/18716-bullet-collisions/#entry112850 [forums.odforce.net] for a couple suggestions on how to improve the simulation's behaviour in those cases.

Thanks cwhite!!
That does it - I switched “split impulse” and it works far better now.
