With the news that SESI isn't releasing Houdini for Solaris anymore, there's an interesting article here [sun.com] that claims that Sun's Solaris will support Linux applications *unchanged* with the release of v10.

That's pretty neat. I wonder what “near-native speeds” will turn out to be.

Probably faster than Irix.

You haven't lived in Florida yet then! Now that's CRAZY man!

You wouldn't by chance know Erik Baker would you? I hear there's a few Houdinites in town, would love to meet up sometime!

Drop me an email at mstory@xion.org, we'll “do lunch” (procedurely of course!) :-)

Hehe, monsoon season here is more than adventurous enough for me. And dammit it cuts into my Houdini time, since I have to turn of the computer.
But no, I don't know Eric Baker. I'll send you an e-mail.

Yea, I know! I can't afford a lightning strike, it happened once in Florida and I learned my lesson … too many $$$ & headaches, very costly! Monsoon time is fun, but certainly less productive … good reason to get away from the computer though, eh?

Talk to you soon!

Notice, though, from the same story:

enabling administrators to run Linux applications in a new and unique way on x86 platforms

This will only work if you're using Solaris x86.
