Hi there,

i had some problems rendering the ocean
with the apprentice ed., it would only render the flat grid (in pink),
even though the maps had been written out correctly.

Finally i noticed the file endings of the maps in the apprentice ed. being not “.pic” (which seems to be default) but “.picnc” !
Changing this in the appropriate node (Ocean Render?) fixed it.

Apprentice version restrict you to render HD and without watermark. That is why there is .picnc which contains Houdini watermark.
