After the fallout the night before, the privileged can enjoy the last rays of sun in the Sky Lounge.

As they say, sometimes you win and sometimes you have a breakdown at 3AM because your cloud noises were the wrong scale.

This one didn't come out too well unfortunately. I tried recreating a sky kingdom environment from a shot I used to watch when I was a kid. The sky rig was unsuccessful due to my scene scale I think and I learned a for each loop with clouds can be a big no no haha Probably a bit too ambitious for a few hours work but I'll come back to it eventually.

How the light in the sky is born ( probably )
Edit: Attached community HIPs All Mantra with a hires/lores shader sample workflow and a mesh based way to generate the cloud shapes.

Really starting to get the hang of Houdini thanks to the Houly challenges. This is my 22nd straight entry!
Today I took on a big idea. I brought in images from the GOES-17 weather satellite showing the infrared and RGB cloud data. I wrote some vex to filter out the RGB values and converted them to scale the height of the clouds. Green data in the satellite images are the highest clouds (more likely to cause rain).
The loop below represents 110 images from today (from about 5am to 6pm EST).
I still want to refine this and make it better, but this is what I was able to pull off in one day! Looks like it was a sunny day in California….
