Well, I learned a lot about the mechanics and construction of escalators today…
Annnddd, as a special bonus, a nice demonstration of what you should not do with an area light. The second render is one that I started well before the deadline. Took nearly an hour and a half. I think (but I'm not going to check right now because it's stupid late), that it's because I put that orange area light in at the end of the tunnel. Well, turning sampling up to 9x9 probably didn't help either…

I got some really cool results for making a cave using what I learned from when I explored height-fields for the “peak” challenge. Trying to texture it after setting up the scene? Different story

Edit: Had wrong transparency sample settings and rerendered. Original submission (underground5.jpg) is still attached though.
Edit2: Attached community hip file.
Extras used: A normals texture and some very early prototypes (as subnets) from the the toolset I'm working on to generate the cave wall geometry - nothing fancy though. I also ran Tommy through mixamo to get the hanging pose done quickly.
