Hi all ,

I have a TOP network with an Ouput TOP at the very bottom. I usually always put one in my subnets, hdas, etc to explicitly set what the output it without worrying about flags. However, if I use the Output TOP, it seems like whatever node has the output flag takes precedence. Is this intended behavior? I also noticed if I set the output flag to be on the Output TOP ('r' hotkey), and try to “Dirty and Cook Output Node”, nothing cooks at all. Is this normal? Is the output TOP only meant to be used in TOP subnets?

Thanks!

(I'm in houdini18.0.499 btw)

Yes, the Output TOP is currently only used inside of subnets for adding multiple outputs to the subnet. We do intend to fix it so that it works the same way as the one in other context, but that hasn't been addressed yet.
